Stripe is a company that provides a way for individuals and businesses to accept payments over the Internet. Co-founded by brothers Patrick and John Collison, the company has received $130 million in funding; investors include Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, and PayPal co-founders Peter Thiel, Max Levchin, and Elon Musk.
Stripe is a platform for online payments, which allows users to accept and manage payments with different methods, such as credit, debit, rechargeable, credit transfers, and direct debits. Stripe is cloud-based and offers a range of tools for developers, businesses and consumers, including: A simple and intuitive interface to create and customise your account; APIs to integrate Stripe with your website or app and receive real-time transaction information; a security and anti-fraud system to protect customer data and payment flows; A subscription service to manage recurring or installment payments; A marketplace service to connect sellers and buyers and manage commissions; and A billing and reporting service to track payments and expenses.
Stripe is available in 32 countries, including Italy, and supports 135 currencies. The fees charged by Stripe vary depending on the payment method, card origin and transaction volume.
